The month of January arrives and a new season begins in the world of tourism. The first renowned international tourism fair of the year opens tomorrow at the Madrid fairgrounds (IFEMA).
FITUR 2015 It will take place between January 28 and February 1 and there will meet, as every year, tourist destinations, travel agents, journalists, bloggers and other active agents in the world of tourism.
My first and only experience at FITUR was in 2012 when I spent three whole days without stopping touring the large pavilions occupied by the stands of countries, regions, hotel chains, agencies and everything you can imagine. It was like going to a travel theme park. I had a great time.
As at that time our blog was almost nothing professionalized, I visited the fair with the eyes of someone who will only enjoy and discover more things about countries or destinations that attracted me at that time. I remember that I spent many hours in the area of the stands of the African countries and the effort was rewarded when we reached a collaboration agreement with the tourism department of South Africa, which would crystallize a year later.
But FITUR is primarily a place where business is done. The exhibitors at stands seek to achieve new sales channels, new contacts, future partners, expose the novelties offered by their tourism products, strengthen current customers through face-to-face meetings, seek media coverage and, ultimately, strengthen their brand to sell more .
On the other side of the binomial we have professional visitors. These seek to obtain all the information of the specialized commercial offer existing in the tourism market, schedule meetings with current and potential suppliers (and visit and strengthen commercial relations with the current ones), compare in situ the characteristics of all the specialized offer.
Then we are bloggers, travel journalists and other people from the communication sector. In the end we are all the same, give it the name you give it.
There we went to know the current offer of destinations that attract our attention, tell a little what is done in the world of tourism and, why not, close collaboration agreements with places that may be of interest to our readers and ourselves .
And there is also room for fun at the fair.
Many of the stands organize all kinds of events to promote your tourist product. Food tastings and beverage tastings, live musical performances, video projections, contests, magic shows, ... Everything. Nothing is much to get to talk about you. This makes FITUR a festival of colors, flavors and art that also makes it one of the most visited fairs, during the year, by the non-professional public of the sector.
