If you are in the region of La Cerdanya, either in its Catalan or French side, and you are looking for a simple hiking route to do as a family, the archaeological path of Eina is an excellent option.

The town of Eina - or Eyne in French - is in the French side of the Pyrenees under the shadow of the Puigmal. The thick Eina valley is perched to the peak of Nuria to access the famous sanctuary that bears the same name.

Leaving the town of Eina to start the tour

This valley is a nature reserve and It has been considered an authentic botanical sanctuary since the nineteenth century thanks to the variety of flowers and plants that inhabit it. Asisismo, we recommend you take another circular route through the Eina Valley to enjoy its natural abundance.

The route or archaeological path of Eina is a pleasant circular walk of 5 kilometers away It will take you a couple of hours and a half. Tour rural areas visiting several dolmens and menhirs of more than 3000 years old with always present views of the mountain range that surrounds the Carlit and the nearby Puigmal behind us. The slope offered by the excursion is just 120 meters.

To start the excursion we must approach the Maison de la Valléé. It is the first house you will see right when you arrive in Eina and leave in the main parking of the town. There you will find a nice restaurant and the tourist office where a very friendly staff will offer you all the information you need.

Entering the Dolmen of Els Pasquerets

The archaeological path of Eina starts from the next street turning to the right -carrer del Carreter- and you will see that there are abundant yellow marks that show us the way at all times.

The first monument we found on the tour is the Pou dolmen on a promontory overlooking the rural area that we have crossed. It is a tomb dating back to 2,200 B.C. Dating that could be achieved thanks to the calcined bones that were found inside a stone box at the bottom of the grave.

Along the way you will see the extensive valley of the French Cerdanya, you may see the silhouette of the Train jaune with its glowing yellow crossing the valley. Around you, the carved earth and bales of straw decorating the horizon.
