Buildings of the University Library, Warsaw, Poland

Although enjoying the sun and taking a pleasant walk in a park is something I usually do in any city, I had never done it in one located on top of a building. In Warsaw you have at your disposal one of the biggest and most beautiful, the Botanical garden on the roof of the University Library.

Located between the Vistula River and the Campus, the new Library of the University of Warsaw (Biblioteka Uniwersytecka w Warszawie, BUW) consists of two buildings, independent but almost attached to each other, united through a covered passage glazed Once the construction of the complex was completed in 1999, in mid-2002 the gardens designed by landscape designer Irena Bajerska were opened to the public.

Access is not restricted to those who are not users of the Library and Anyone can enjoy the 17,000 square meters of grass, walks and trees. The lower part covers 15,000 square meters and connects aesthetically with the 2,000 square meters of the upper part through a stream and a waterfall (although I only saw a small pond). Humans have a long flight of stairs at our disposal.
