I think I will never be able to remember and pronounce this name: Srirangapatnam… An island about two hours away by car from Bangalore where a great concentration of temples and palaces. It seems like an ideal Saturday or Sunday getaway for the people of Bangalore and that is where my office colleagues took me on Saturday.
These people are amazing and are of unlimited goodness. They rented a taxi / van to make the journey from Bangalore to Srirangapatnam and Mysore. I imagine that it cost them a good money and I did not get in any way to contribute to the expenses. At least, after insisting, I was able to invite everyone to eat at a good restaurant during our getaway.
The rafts are one of the funniest attractions of the place
We left at seven in the morning of Bangalore and while one tried to open his eyes, my teammates were already singing and dancing in the middle of the van as if it were a Bollywood movie. These people are happy with very little, sometimes you get a huge envy to see them enjoy anything. The journey was fun, with stops to take a idli, some soda and great lasis.
Srirangapatnam could be considered as a city in itself and enjoys great religious, cultural and historical importance among the inhabitants of Karnataka. Its location allows you to make a daily visit either from Bangalore or even from the nearest Mysore. Also, from both cities can also be accessed by train. The entire extension of the place is surrounded by two river arms making this city an authentic island.
