The beautiful flamingos in the lagoons
As it is not bad that for good it does not come, the absence of wind the day that we had to spend a few hours learning Kite Surf made us reprogram our activities and approach the facilities of Món Natura, a few kilometers from the town center of Sant Carles de la Ràpita.
Located at the bottom of the tongue of the Ebro Delta and camouflaged between rice paddies and lagoons, Món Natura it has been erected as one of the interpretation centers of flora and fauna of the most important area in the region.
We cross the narrow strip of sand that is the Trabucador beach with the car and park right in front of the main building. Ramón - enthusiast, genius and figure - immediately offered to guide us through the complex.
Very nice color contrast from the observatory
Ramon was not an individual. Born there and a fisherman's son, he was part of the fishermen's brotherhood of lagoons of Sant Antoni. And this that may sound somewhat vain, clearly, it is not. The brotherhood is made up of about 900 fishermen and every year only 36 fishing licenses are granted. When it is Ramón's turn - it has not happened yet - he will be obliged to spend four months in the lagoons, fishing and sleeping in the facilities prepared for it.
Being a fisherman here is a way of life.
We laughed with the anecdote that told us that it used to happen in all the annual raffles. Many times a number came out that corresponded to someone who had already died or was too old to fish. Remember that you only fish using traditional arts and that involves significant physical effort. That is, you can be a lifetime without being touched or reached when it is too late. Ramón had a lot of faith in his luck and laughed when he thought about his possibilities. It was optimism made flesh.
